Day Eleven: Moab, UT to Flagstaff, AZ

We slept in a little bit this morning, since our drive wasn't that long today. Got up at 7, and stopped by the Snake Oil Coffee hut before we left Moab. Then we drove through rain and snow in the desert!

We made a quick stop at Hole N the Rock...

After a couple of hours, we stopped at a visitors center and gift shop in Blanding, UT, where we met a guy who told us that we needed to stop at Goosenecks State Park on our way to Monument Valley. So we did! It was a 1,000 ft overlook of the winding San Juan River. It was beautiful, but super cold and windy, so we didn't stay very long.

Next up was Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. We had to recreate Forrest Gump while we were there...

It was windy and cold there too, so we mostly just did the scenic drive through. When we left there, we crossed into Arizona, where we encountered even heavier snow. Not exactly what we were expecting! Weirdly, the rain and snow cleared up right before each of our stops today. We also lost daylight savings time in Arizona, which put us three hours behind home.

Our last stop of the day was at Horseshoe Bend, and it was our favorite! We spent about an hour there, hiking and climbing on the rocks. It wasn't as cold, so much more comfortable for exploring! I'll include a picture of Fred that had us all laughing. He doesn't do well with heights... I'm a little concerned about the Grand Canyon tomorrow! Ollie is loving all of the rock climbing, but said he really misses green grass!

We ended the day in Flagstaff, AZ, stopping at the Lumberyard Tap Room for dinner before going to our hotel.
