Day One: Hanover, PA to Fort Wayne, IN

We actually got on the road just after 7 this morning - probably a record for our family! After a couple of technical difficulties (GPS issues with the van), day one was pretty smooth sailing. We spent most of the day in Pennsylvania and Ohio, ending in Indiana for the night. Today and tomorrow are mostly travel days, with a couple of interesting stops here and there.

Our first stop was highly educational. We visited a lovely alley in Warren, OH, dedicated to Mr. David Grohl. Sketchiness aside, it was actually pretty cool. Made the kids listen to some Foo Fighters and Nirvana on the way... all part of the educational experience. Ollie's favorite part was the world's largest drum sticks. Owen and Ella's favorite was the guitar sculpture.

Our next stop was at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, where we hiked Ledges Trail. It was a beautiful hike. There were plenty of rocks to climb on, much to Ollie's delight. We hiked a two mile loop, then got back on the road.

After a day of beautiful weather, we drove through a storm around Toledo. Grabbed some Chipotle, then settled in for the last leg of the day.

Van life - the kids have been watching movies, reading, drawing, playing on their phones, and keeping an eye out for all the things on crazy Pop's photo scavenger hunt list!

We ended our day in Fort Wayne, IN. After we checked in, Fred, Ollie, and Ella went for a swim, and Owen relaxed in our hotel room, before showers and bed time.

We're all going through a little bit of Chewy withdrawal, but feel better knowing he's well loved while we're gone. Thank you Mark, Malerie, and the Lamberts!!

We're planning on getting on the road by 7 again tomorrow... wish us luck!
