We all got a good night's sleep last night, woke up refreshed at 7, grabbed the hotel breakfast, stopped by the Wicked AZ Coffee hut, and set off for the Grand Canyon!
One reason we picked this year to do this trip is because fourth graders and their families get into the national parks for free. So Ollie used his fourth grader card to get us in everywhere, saving us over $200 in park admissions.
We got to the Grand Canyon around 10:30, but it took an hour to get in. So a little slow start, but it was totally worth the wait. Another overwhelmingly beautiful sight! I tried taking a few pictures, but it's just impossible to capture it, so I gave up. We walked to several overlooks, and Ella and I ran a 5k around the rim trail. They had some snow yesterday, but today was sunny and in the 50's - absolutely gorgeous.
We (almost literally) ran into a few elk on our run...
Fred got a little too close to one, and he let Fred know it! We thought we were going to have a chase on our hands, but he just went back to eating after Fred slowly walked away.
We went back to the same hotel in Flagstaff for one more night, and grabbed some Jack in the Box for dinner on the way. We all give it two thumbs up!
We're going to miss this hotel - it's the only one we've had with really good water pressure. We've been savoring our showers here! Fred, Ella, and Ollie took advantage of the hotel pool and hot tub again before bed.
Tomorrow, we start the journey back home!
